We decided to give cookies to some of our neighbors and friends as a fun way to celebrate Independence Day.
I baked two batches of Ranger Cookies and stacked six cookies in each clear treat bag. I always make a lot of cookies because several of them typically and mysteriously go missing when I'm not looking!
My favorite part of creating treats is making the greeting card. I found the fancy font on the Internet, it is called Kingthings Flashbang. After printing, cutting and pasting,
I added metallic star stickers and
tied it around the treat bag.
I also made treat bags using white lunch sacks. I cut about six inches off the top, wrapped a napkin around the cookies and placed them at the bottom of the bag.
If you don't use a napkin, the oils from the cookies will run through the bag and make it look wet, aka: unattractive,
and we don't want that :)
I thought that the white lunch sacks looked alright. They just didn't have as cute of a presentation as the clear treat bags. However, they do hold an element of surprise, as the person receiving the gift doesn't know what's in the bag.
How exciting!
We had the boys help us deliver the bags to our neighbors. They had more fun than we did walking down the street and knocking on doors. We could tell they felt so big and important delivery such a special treat.
In the words of my five year old,
"Happy Fourth!"
